Mediation is often faster and cheaper than litigation — see when it makes the most sense.

When is mediation worth trying?

Mediation is a voluntary way of resolving a dispute with the help of an impartial mediator. It works especially well where the parties want to preserve their business or family relationships.

A settlement reached before a mediator and approved by the court has the force of a court settlement. The proceedings are usually much shorter and cheaper than litigation, and they remain confidential.

Mediation will not always replace a trial, but in many commercial and family matters it is worth attempting an agreement before the dispute reaches the courtroom.
