The insurer paid less than the actual loss? You have the right to demand the difference.

Underpaid motor insurance claim — how to claim the difference

Insurers often understate the amount of compensation, for example by applying depreciation deductions or reduced hourly labour rates. The amount paid does not always match the actual cost of repair.

The basis for pursuing the difference is an independent damage valuation and an analysis of the insurer's decision. In many cases the gap between the payout and the real cost of repair is significant.

Motor liability claims generally become time-barred after a number of years, but the sooner you gather documentation, the easier it is to prove the extent of the loss.
